Pack 2 follows National guidance: the Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”, the official uniform) for most meetings and ceremonies, and an Activity Uniform (Pack T-shirt) (sometimes called “Class B”) for sports, camp, and high-activity programs.
Note: Uniforming is encouraged but not required for participation or advancement. When in doubt about what to wear, leaders will note it in Pack communications.
Used for pack/den meetings, ceremonies, travel to/from events, and other occasions where we want to show Scouting spirit.
• Shirt: Lion: Lion T-shirt. Tiger–Bear: Cub Scout blue uniform shirt. Webelos/AOL: blue or tan uniform shirt (family/den choice); stay consistent once chosen.
• Neckerchief & slide: Rank-appropriate; worn with the Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”) unless leaders note otherwise. Neckerchief & slide provided by the pack.
• Belt/hat/socks: Official items encouraged (belt supports adventure loops). Hat & socks are optional.
• Pants/shorts: Official or similar solid, durable outdoor pants/shorts; weather-appropriate layers.
• Footwear: Closed-toe shoes suitable for the activity.
Perfect for active/outdoor events, sports, craft days, summertime activities, and camp.
• Pack 2 T-shirt or other Scouting T-shirt, plus outdoor pants/shorts and closed-toe shoes.
• Leaders will specify Activity Uniform vs. Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”) in emails and on the Pack calendar.
• Dress for the weather; bring sun/rain layers as needed.
• Arrival & Departure: Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”) for check-in/out, opening/closing flags, photos, and ceremonies.
• Program Blocks: Switch to Activity Uniform (sometimes called “Class B”) for messy/active periods.
• Religious Observance: Use the Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”).
• Footwear & Layers: Closed-toe shoes; pack weather-appropriate layers and a hat/sun protection.
• Pro tip: Pack a hanger for the field shirt and a small zip bag for the slide/neckwear so nothing gets lost.
Insignia shows a Scout’s journey—rank, den, council, and achievements—and should be placed exactly as shown in National’s guide. Generally:
• Left sleeve: Council shoulder patch and unit numerals.
• Right sleeve: U.S. flag and den numeral/den emblem (as applicable).
• Left pocket: Rank badge and World Crest (optional World Crest ring when earned).
• Right pocket: Temporary patch (center), recruiter strip, and other approved items per guide.
Only official insignia belong on the Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”). Fun/non-BSA patches can go on a red vest, blanket, or a scrapbook.
• Safety first: Clothing/footwear must fit the activity; layer for weather and avoid loose items near equipment.
• Respectful choices: Avoid words/images that could be offensive (e.g., political, violent, sexual, or disrespectful content).
• Religious, cultural, medical needs: Alternative headgear or clothing is welcome when safe and does not block vision.
• Communication: Event listings note Activity Uniform vs. Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”) when relevant.
• Insignia: Follow the Insignia Guide for placement; don’t add non-BSA patches to the Field Uniform (sometimes called “Class A”).
• Care: Washable fabrics—hang shirts to keep them neat; keep slides and small items in a labeled bag.
• Growing Scouts: Shirts can last years—consider sizing with a little room to grow.
